Maria Francesca Cristea is Head of Policy and Programs at Europuls — Centre of European Expertise, where she leads policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement with decision-makers at local, national, and European levels.
She is a PhD Candidate at the Doctoral School of Political Science, University of Bucharest, researching disinformation, polarization, and the erosion of democratic trust in Central and Eastern Europe, and a PhD Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Political Science.
As a Youth Delegate to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and EU Youth Delegate during Romania's Presidency of the Council of the EU, Francesca has built solid expertise at the intersection of civil society, public institutions, and European governance mechanisms.
She currently coordinates the COHERO4EU project, dedicated to exploring how cohesion policy can be redefined and strengthened within the next Multiannual Financial Framework 2028-2034 — connecting citizens, regional authorities, and European decision-makers around a shared vision of territorial development and economic convergence.
Nominated in Forbes 30 Under 30 Romania 2023 for her work in international advocacy and regional development cooperation.
